NBA: Charlotte Hornets at Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are rolling through their schedule. Currently with the second best record in the league, all the wins have not been pretty nor easy. As good teams do, they have found ways to win ugly games.

In Oklahoma City, the injury plagued Thunder gave the Warriors troubles. When the “Splash Brothers” went cold, Marreese Speights came off the bench to give them intensity and a scoring punch. Last night’s game was just like that Thunder game. Speights scored the first 14 points in the fourth while the Hornets held a slim lead. He finished that game with 27 points, 5 rebounds, and two assists. According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group, Speights may want to audition to be a member of the “Splash Brothers”:

Time after time, Speights has proven to be the guy you want on your bench. He’s always ready to enter and impact the game in case his number is called. Without David Lee, Speights has been phenomenal filling in at the front court positions. Coach Kerr is loving the spark he provides and has rewarded Speights with the full-time backup center position.

This season Speights is averaging 12.6 points on 60% shooting. The Warriors are 13-2 and play Detroit on Sunday, November, 30 to conclude their five game roadtrip. If they can claim that victory, the winning streak would extend to nine games.

If Speights keeps this up, who cares how long Lee is out? Too bad Myers can’t dump That bad contract Lee has.
