Curry Sleeves

The Warriors are off to their most promising start in recent years. The early praise was on Klay Thompson and his outstanding play on both ends of the floor. When Thompson missed his first NBA game due to injury with a sprained hand, Curry knew he needed to step up.

Through 10 games, the exciting and entertaining point guard is leading the team with 24.8 points, 7.7 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group, head coach Steve Kerr has nothing but compliments to say about Curry’s outstanding play:

After Curry needed only three quarters to rack up 30 points and 15 assists in a rout of the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, Kerr said his point guard was currently the best in the NBA at the position. The drumbeat continued Wednesday when ESPN broadcaster Jeff Van Gundy said Curry was the best point guard “without question.”

“I try not to get too much into rankings and who’s best and all that,” Kerr said Thursday. “I just know that Steph’s my point guard, and he’s played out of his mind the last three or four games, and I haven’t seen anybody play better. So if I say that, it’s coming from the heart.
“I don’t say much, but the way he’s playing, he’s earned that praise.”

Since their losing streak against the Suns (10 turnovers) and Spurs (0-7 from three), Curry has played much better minimizing turnovers, setting up teammates, and becoming more efficient. Curry’s confidence his teammates can be back by their improved percentages. Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes have been playing at a high level since being inserted into the starting five.

The Warriors sit at the top of the Pacific division and boast a 8-2 record. On Friday, they will face off with Gordon Hayward and the Utah Jazz.

Also, I might add that Curry is averaging the least amount of minutes (33) among players in the top 5 in scoring and/or assists.
