Steve Kerr spurned the New York Knicks for the Golden State Warriors and that was probably the best decision of his life. He was capable of getting the most from his players and got the Warriors over the hump. In quite the successful first year, he claimed his first championship as a coach. On his side were assistant coaches, Ron Adams and Alvin Gentry. With a football-like approach he used the two as a defensive and offensive coordinator respectively.

Gentry is now the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans and looks to make noise with Anthony Davis and the upcoming roster. According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area Sports Group, the Warriors have not announced a replacement but the Warriors are close to making a decision:

If they do promote from within, this backs up the report originally posted by Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports. Luke Walton has been in connections with possibly moving up:

Currently coaching the Summer League, Walton and the Warriors have their eyes set on the Summer League championship. They will continue to advance in the tournament style play after defeating the Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks. James Michael McAdoo has been leading the Dubs with the help of Kevon Looney. The Warriors are now 3-2 and Walton has done a decent job rallying the troops and have them playing much better in the past two games.
Does Kerr no longer feel the need for veteran coaches at his side? Luke Walton is probably a good coach, but he’s only been a coach for 4 years. Wouldn’t mind a steady, older hand helping advise Kerr…
