The point guard position in basketball might be the most unique. You have many different types of players who can play that position. There have been guys who have been 6’9 running the position in the league and then you have different players who are a hybrid of either guard position. There are traditional pass-first point guards and then there are the aggressive shoot-first types.
No matter the case, the Golden State Warriors have had their share of point guards in history that has done damage in the NBA. Today, we are blessed with the brilliance of Stephen Curry, but what about Tim Hardaway and Baron Davis? Do they make the cut? If so, where on this list. Hardaway was part of the famous Run TMC, but Davis was the leader of the “We Believe” Squad that shocked the number one seed Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2007 NBA playoffs.
What about some old school Warriors like Phil Smith and Guy Rodgers? The younger generations might not know who they are, but they were an instrumental part of this franchise. It’s time to learn about past point guards that came well before Curry was even born

7. Al Attles
Attles might not have the talent of some of the other guys on this list, but he has had too much of an impact on the Warriors franchise to be left off. He played for the Warriors when they were in Philadelphia and San Francisco. He coached the team when they made the transition from San Francisco to Oakland, as well.
He was the second leading scorer in the game where Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points, scoring 17 points himself. Chamberlain and Rodgers were the stars of the team, but Attles held his own. He helped the Warriors make it to the Finals a couple of different times, unfortunately losing both times. However, he took the Warriors to the playoffs six times resulting in one Finals victory in 1975 as a coach.
