Larry Sanders was forced to put a promising career on hold because of mental health issues he was struggling with.
After more than a season away from the game, Sanders is hinting on social media that he’s contemplating a return to the NBA with either the Warriors or Cavaliers.
Before his hiatus from basketball, Sanders was one of the most intimidating shot blockers in the NBA.
The trade of Andrew Bogut to the Mavericks has left the Warriors with a void they haven’t yet filled. There are no proven rim protectors on the roster as of now.
Sanders could provide that role for the team as a high energy interior defender off the bench. Returning to the league as a complementary player on a team that has the potential to be historically great sounds like the perfect scenario for Sanders.
In other Warriors news, there are unconfirmed reports that Stephen Jackson is going to get a training camp invite from the Warriors.
The team is denying these rumors, though. Jackson hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2013-2014 season with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Jackson was a key player on the Warriors from 2007-2009, acting as one of the critical components of the “We Believe” Warriors team that upset the Dallas Mavericks in the 2007 NBA playoffs.
