Frye

After an uneventful day yesterday, the Warriors must keep moving forward and focus on improving this roster. Free agency begins on July 1st, and the Warriors might interested in adding some valuable assets. Everyone hopes the Warriors remain active in seeking deals that will improve next year’s roster, but it’s not guaranteed. Fortunately for the Warriors, there are some players in free agency who could come in and contribute right away. Now, the Warriors must prepare to pitch this organization to several free agents and hope they are willing to come to Golden State to contend for an NBA title.

Warriors’ small forward Andre Iguodala is taking actions into his own hands by helping the Warriors recruit some free agents. According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group, Iguodala is recruiting former college teammate, Channing Frye:

“I’ve talked to Channing a few times,” Iguodala told Sirius XM on Thursday. “I told him how great the Bay was. I told him how his family would enjoy it. I know his family well. My family knows his family, so it wouldn’t be strangers. I would take care of him. If he needed a room, I got an extra room for him.

“I like to pass a lot. I passed to Channing a lot in college, so Channing knows that he’ll be able to shoot the rock.”

Steve Kerr is adamant about having a stretch four to spread the floor for the Warriors and in case the Warriors fail to land Love this summer, Frye could be a good alternative. Obviously Love is a much better player, but at this point the Warriors must work with what they have and Frye could fit in well this squad. Frye averaged 11.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last season. He also shot 37 percent from beyond the arc, giving the Warriors another three point shooting threat.

Iguodala played with Frye at the University of Arizona and both have remained good friends since entering the league. Iguodala even offered Frye housing if he signs with the Warriors, which is admirable. The Warriors front office might have to hire Iguodala as an assistant general manager if he is able to lure Frye to the Bay Area this off-season.
