The Warriors also had to decide whether they wanted to exercise Marreese Speights’ team option, which is worth about $3.8 million. Well, it looks like they’ve finally made their decision. According to Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group, the Warriors will pick up the option, keeping the big man in the Bay Area for at least another season:

As Thompson mentioned in his tweet, this was a relatively easy decision for the Warriors considering what it’s going to cost them to keep Speights. The big man out of Florida didn’t get much playing time during the Finals, but he is still a very talented big man that has nice shooting range.

He played a big role during the season, but injuries slowed him down in the postseason. He is a great teammate and surely they guys will be very happy to have him back. Speights will have to prove that last year was no fluke and do it again next season. If he does, he can be in line for a nice contract after next year.
