Walton-Luke

Steve Kerr’s coaching staff is almost complete, but there is still room to add a couple more assistants. Kerr’s staff already has some impressive names on board, but he might be looking to add a fellow Arizona Wildcat.

Luke Walton was rumored to be interested in joining the Warriors’ staff and according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, both sides are finalizing a deal that will officially make Walton an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors:

Walton has been an analyst for the Lakers television network since he retired from the NBA. However, since his buddy Derek Fisher landed the New York Knicks job, some were expecting Walton to join Fisher in the Big Apple and pursue a coaching career.

The son of former NBA great Bill Walton, went to the University of Arizona, just like head coach Steve Kerr. Like it has been the case before, the Warriors offer a much better opportunity than most NBA teams. Those two things could have been the driving force of Walton’s decision to forget about the Knicks and sign with the Warriors instead.
