Klay Thompson is due for a big contract. If the Warriors don’t sign Thompson to an extension, he will become a restricted free-agent, but the Warriors can still match any offer he receives. After Gordon Hayward received a max contract from the Utah Jazz this past off-season, there is no doubt Thompson will require the same.

Thompson might have to be patient to get his contract from the Warriors, but he’s already making some extra cash. According to Nick DePaula of Sole Collector, Thompson will reportedly sign with Anta Sports:

Anta is a rising sportswear company based out of China and they already have some prominent NBA players on their payroll, which include Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Chandler Parsons and Luis Scola. The deal has not confirmed and no details have emerged, but one would guess Anta made an offer that he could not refuse.

Nike dominates the basketball scene and they’ve ran some great campaigns for players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. Thompson will likely receive his own signature sneaker with Anta, which could also be a reason he chose the up and coming company.

I don’t know, putting his name on a wannabe seems like career russian roulette. I hope the gamble pays off.
