Steph Curry is in New York today working with Degree Men and had some time to be a guest on the Dan Patrick Show. He called in this morning and spoke to Patrick for several minutes and discussed football, Team USA, and Kevin Love. However, Patrick decided to stir the pot a little bit by asking Curry who he believed the better offensive player was, Lebron James or himself. Curry thought about it briefly, but quickly acknowledged that he believes he is the better offensive player between the two.
James is easily the best player on the planet, but it’s his overall body of work on both ends of the floor that makes him such an unstoppable force. Curry believes his ability to shoot from the three point line and getting his teammates involved makes him the better offensive weapon. James averaged 27.1 points and 6.4 assists per game last season, while Curry put up 24 points and 8.5 assists. Just by looking at those numbers, it is definitely close. Some might argue that James’ size and athleticism allow him to score from anywhere on the floor, but he simply can’t shoot like Curry. If the question is solely based on the offensive end, it’s hard to imagine a scenario in which anybody can match Curry’s ability to drain jump-shots from all over the floor and also drive the lane. Assists matter and Curry has James beat in that category as well, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that Curry feels this way.
