Breaking news this morning in Warriors land; Chris Cohan has retained Galatioto Sports Partners to facilitate the sale of the team according to the Sports Business Journal.  There’s no immediate timetable as to when the sale will take place or who will purchase the team.  The prime candidate to take over the franchise is Oracle chief Larry Ellison who has long been rumored to have an affinity to buy the team from Cohan.

Whoever ends up purchasing the team will do so at a hefty price.  Cohan has already turned down an offer of $350 million dollars and is believed to want close to $400 million dollars for his prized possession.

The news of Cohan officially looking to sell the team is quite possibly the best thing to happen during this sham of a season.  With the prospect of a top 3 pick, a new owner and more changes ahead, the future just got brighter for the Warriors.

Quick Hits with Sebastian Pruiti of Netsarescorching.com

The Nets have had a horrid season to say the least, what’s been the most difficult aspect of the season? What would you consider the low point?

For me the low point of the season was definitely the losing streak to start the season.  The Nets were supposed to be bad, and they had a rough opening schedule, but nobody expected it to be as bad as it eventually turned out to be.  Because of that, the losing streak was like a punch in the gut.  That, and the lost a number of winnable games.  The first one on a buzzer beater to the T-Wolves, they lost to the Sixers by three twice (not getting a game-tying attempt up either time), and losing to the Heat on a D-Wade buzzer-beater.

Brook Lopez is a player that some think will be a stud while others believe is going to be a mediocre Center, seeing him on a daily basis, what’s your take on Brook and how good he can and will be?

I think he is going to be a very special player.  It sucks that the Nets might get the record for “Worst Record of All Time” because it is something that shouldn’t be attached to a player of Brook’s quality.  To see what he is doing with no outside threat (leading to double teams), and still being able to produce?  Not to mention that he is only 21 and still pretty raw when it comes to low post moves.

The only knock I have on Brook is his body language/attitude.  Whenever a mistake is made by himself/his teammates, he kind of loses his head.  He also argues every call, and I think this has drawn the attention of referees (as they have been calling some pretty ticky-tack calls on him towards the end of the year).

Who are the NETS building their team around? Will they be looking to make drastic changes this off-season?

Brook Lopez, Terrence Williams, Devin Harris, and Courtney Lee.  Devin Harris might be here, he might not (depending on how the draft goes).  The other three are all very young and have the potential to be very good players to build a team around.

The Nets have the second most money (in terms of cap space), and they plan on using it.  While everyone is dreaming about LeBron James and Dwyane Wade (I am too), I think Chris Bosh is the best fit on this team as it is currently built.

Chris Douglas-Roberts was someone who the Nets thought would be in this group but his play (and his Twitter account) may have gotten him a ticket out of here.

How’s the fan reaction been to the losing this season? Do they believe in the future or are they indifferent towards the team at this point?

The fan reaction has been what you would expect of a team that only has 7 wins this late in the season.  Not a lot of fans are showing up, but to be honest, the Izod never drew even during the years where the Nets made the finals.  I remember the Eastern Conference Finals clinching win wasn’t sold out and me and my dad walked up and bought tickets.  The arena was 1/4 empty that game.

As a whole, I think the fan base is excited for next year.  Not only to get this awful season behind them, but also because the Nets are now playing in the Prudential Center (in Newark where fans can take public transportation to get to), and they broke ground on Brooklyn, so the future is bright in my opinion.

Of the players mentioned to be coming out early in the draft this year, who best fits in with the Nets? Who would they take with the #1 pick?

John Wall.  I love Evan Turner, I really do but there is no way the Nets can pass him up.  They can then use the Devin Harris to bring in an outside shooter or a scoring PF.  That being said, but if the Nets get the second pick, I am not complaining, Evan Turner is a nice second prize.
