NBA: Phoenix Suns at Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have not looked like themselves in the previous two games. As a result, they are riding a two game losing streak with hopes of snapping it against an improved Phoenix Suns. The challenge won’t be easy as the Suns have been impressive knocking off the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards.

This is the battle of the brothers. The Suns have the Morris twins and the Dragic brothers, while the Warriors have the Splash Bros. Here’s our instant recap in case you missed the game:

1st Quarter

The Warriors’ offensive woes continued at the beginning of this game and the Suns got off to a fast start. The Dubs haven’t been able to buy a triple, which is a big facet of their game. The Warriors didn’t score for the first four minutes of the quarter. Markief Morris was having a field day and he had 10 quick points. A bad start and quarter for the Dubs, poor execution and they simply can’t hit their shots. The Warriors settled down and they were able to get as close to three. However, the Suns got hot to end the quarter and the Warriors trailed 28-23. Steph Curry led the Warriors with nine points, but they are going to need to pick it up if they want to win this game.

2nd Quarter

Two of the best offenses in the league took the floor, but only the Suns looked like they belonged. The second unit was not able to bridge the gap and the Suns kept extending their lead. It’s tough to watch, the Warriors have no rhythm or fluidity. More importantly, the Warriors could not stop the Suns and the lead was up to 12. Steph Curry put the team on his back and after a pair of triples, the Warriors were down four. The Warriors looked like they were slowly getting back to form, but turnovers kept being a problem. With a team like the Suns, who love to get on the break, you must take care of the basketball. The Warriors finally turned on a switch and they started hitting some buckets. Oracle was alive and the Warriors finished the quarter strong, they took a one point lead into the break.

3rd Quarter

Both teams were a bit off to start the second half. Klay Thompson made his presence felt and he helped the Warriors extend their lead to four. It was a slow process, but the Warriors kept pulling away. They were finally looking like a team that owns the best record in the NBA. The Suns were missing shots and the Warriors were moving the rock efficiently. Finally, after three games, the Warriors looked like the team that has been dominating this season and they quickly had a double digit lead. The Suns were able to bring it down to seven, but the Warriors needed this type of quarter. Everybody was contributing and the ball movement was great. Steph Curry led the way with 21 points through 3 quarter.

4th Quarter

It’s been all Warriors in the second half and it continued in the final period. Andre Iguodala provided a spark off the bench and he was active defensively and made some buckets. The lead was once again up to double digits and the Warriors were well on their way to another victory. It was a collective effort, not just Curry or Thompson. They moved the ball with ease and the triples were finally falling for the Dubs. This was a one point game at the half, but the Warriors kept coming and the lead was now up to 20. The Suns looked rattled and the Warriors were back on track. They beat the Suns 106-87.
