Instant Recap: Warriors Beat Clippers In LA 110-106

The Golden State Warriors will finish their road trip in Los Angeles against the Clippers. Without Draymond Green, the Warriors would reinsert David Lee into the starting five. The rivalry between these two teams can be described as the NBA’s best. The intensity and tenacity won’t be missing even with Draymond out.

1st Quarter

The Warriors began slowly and found themselves down 7-0 early. Klay Thompson’s layup got the Dubs on the board. Golden State’s defense was tested early as Blake Griffin earned 8 points in less than seven minutes of play. Griffin missed the last meeting with a staph infection in his elbow. Missed layups would be the early story as the Warriors kept missing easy opportunities. Even with Lee’s 10 points, the Warriors were down 30-18 at the end of the first.

2nd Quarter

Shaun Livingston struck first and sank two free throws to bring the lead down to 10. The Warriors continued to struggle to get a run going. Coach Kerr looked down his bench and swapped in Marreese Speights and James Michael McAdoo to see his first action. Curry’s phenomenal four point play brought the 17 point deficit down to 13. An 8-0 run has the Warriors back within seven. Curry got Paul with a killer crossover and finished the baseline jumper that’s sure make ESPN’s Top 10. At the half, the Clippers still led 53-46 over the Dubs.

3rd Quarter

With both teams scoring early and often, the Warriors were able to one up the Clippers and trimmed the lead down to three. Thompson has turned it up and poured in ten early 3rd quarter points in the first six minutes. Back to back three pointers from the Splash Brothers and the game was all tied up.  Curry’s fourth three-pointer gave the Warriors their first lead of the game at 72-71. In a high scoring affair, the Warriors cut the lead but still trailed 82-88.

4th Quarter

The six point deficit was short lived as the Warriors raced out to a 9-0 run behind Mo Speights and Andre Iguodala to take back the lead. The Warriors had all the momentum and the Staples Center crowd could feel it. However, the Clippers responded and fought right back to take a three point lead. They were both taking their best shots, it was all about who was going to be the last man standing. Both teams would not lead by more than three the rest of the way. This game was coming down to the wire. The Warriors were able to be clutch down the stretch and hold on to get the victory. The Clippers didn’t have enough in the tank.
