The Warriors may be fearful of parting with talent on account of Jeremy Lin. If time and a little system tweak turned Jeremy into Linsanity!, then imagine what the right team could do for Monta or Steph.

But. They have. To choose.

More now than ever, as the March 15th trade deadline walks briskly towards us. Choosing is more important than whom they choose. The Warriors are a franchise detrimentally addicted to half measures. They see a fork in the road and waddle between two divergent paths till they’re lost in the wilds. Or at least, that has been the history out here. Lacob is still a (relatively) new owner and can favor a clear strategy, if he so deems. Descriptive has been predictive per GSW, but change is always possible. It doesn’t have to be Groundhog Day in the Bay forever.

In the past, many would cite the Monta vs. Steph issue as immaterial because problems lay in the frontcourt. Here is the flaw with this argument: If the frontcourt is the issue, then how do you fix it? The only way is to trade one of the two starters who still carry trade value. Those two guys happen to be Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry. So yes, even if frontcourt talent is the issue, then it is an issue that can only be addressed through parting with guards. The team has lost just so much salary flexibility on account of the Lee signing and amnesty squandering.

Andris Biedrins has no trade value, David Lee’s contract makes him a tough sell. It has to be Monta or Steph. The question is less about, “Can they play together?” and more about, “Which do they move to get better?” My preference would be Ellis because Ellis already had his shot as a solo operator.

But honestly, and again: It’s more important to make a move. Inaction is a decision in of itself, one that most assuredly guarantees a negative outcome. So if a trade means dumping Monta for cap room? Fine. Do it–so long as they don’t repeat the Jason Richardson affair, and go on to waste cap room on the next Maggette. It is necessary for the Warriors to take path, be that rebuilding, or trading for a shot at the playoffs. Right now, they’re not on one.

You guys got it all wrong. No team at least a playoff team is going to trade one of their top players for Monta. Your NOT going to get equal value at all. If your not getting a top 7 draft pick or a shooting guard or center that’s on monta’s level then your not going to have a trade. I can’t see any team passing up a shot at Kidd Gilchrist, Thomas Robinson or Harrison Barnes unless their already a pretty good team( Bulls,Thunder,Heat) and could use monta in spot minutes. What team out there has a big man who’s in his prime, an all-star snub and wants to come to the bay area… no one. Especially with all the injuries going around no team will be willing to part with their center unless he was over the hill. Monta wouldn’t fit in just anywhere, the team would have to a point guard who can guard 2’s. Memphis isn’t giving up Gay, they’ve got no one behind him, and they have josh selby who is too similar to monta anyways. Steph honestly has some growing to do and could use a team with veteran pg’s to learn from. I doubt you’ll get equal value for him either. This team would be un-watchable without either and the worst part is beidrins would still be a warrior. Look at the young teams”looking toward the future” their unbearable to watch and their fans are leaving them in droves

      PS, dear Wil

It looks like this may be your first time on the internet, so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, but typing in all caps is an internet faux pas. It really is unpleasant to see, let alone to read. It makes it look like you are yelling, which is just a really annoying way to read a rant, err I mean a post.

Also, multiple posts in a row, especially multiple long posts in a row, is also a little inconsiderate. This is worsened by the fact that your posts are really an eyesore with your capslock.

If you’d like your comments to be taken more seriously I’d suggest brushing up on some internet etiquette. Best of luck!

      Bobby

Lebron James once called the King has now oembce the Benedict Arnold of Cleavland sports. The city of Cleavland pinned all of their hopes and dreams on Lebron, who simply wants to win now. Looking at the Cleavland Caviler’s team, Lebron didn’t have much of a choice if he wanted to get back to the finals. The Boston Celtics dropped Cleavland in five games. The Orlando beat the Cavilers the year before to go to the finals against LA. Given that there was no improvement in the teams roster, he really stood no chance of getting back to the finals any time soon. So in a word, I give Lebron a pass on his choice to leave the Cavilers for South Beach.

LACOB you really sold me and I really bought into your claim and promise to turn this team around, BUT YOU KEEPING ANDRIS BIEDRINS AROUND HAS REALLY MADE ME QUESTION YOUR CLAIM AND HAS MADE ME UNDERMINE YOUR PROMISE. YOU SHOULD’VE PULLED THE TRIGGER ON BIEDRINS INSTEAD OF CHARLIE BELL ( I KNOW CHARLIE BELL WAS EXPENDABLE) BUT NO EXCUSE OF NOT HAVING A TRUE CENTER OR ANY OTHER EXCUSE JUSTIFIED KEEPING ANDRIS BIEDRINS, AND EVEN WORST (THIS GOES ON MARK JACKSON) KEEPING HIM AND THEN CONTINUE TO START HIM, COME ON!!!!!??? THE WARRIORS ARE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE LEAGUE WITH ANDRIS BIEDRINS STARTING. AND DORRELL WRIGHT! SOMETHING WENT VERY WRONG WITH THIS GUY THIS YEAR, HE WAS HUNGRY LAST YEAR, BECAUSE HE HAD SOMETHING TO PROVE AND WANTED TO BE A STARTER AND GOT THE 3 POINTER HOOPLA, BUT I CAN GUARANTEE YOU THIS GUY’S HUNGER IN THE OFFSEASON WAS NON EXISTANT, HE GOT WHAT HE WANTED AND NOW HE IS TOO SATISFIED, SO BRANDON RUSH, IS YOURS TO TAKE! SHOW HIM HOW IS DONE!

JJJ, thanks for ridaeng and commenting. I had to come up with a different system for rookies because they don’t have WP48 numbers from last year to adjust, and they don’t have 2 years of projected win% from the Basketball Prospectus to do adjustments with.I started with a WP48 baseline number for rookies of 0.050. In the Wins Produced System a WP48 of 0.100 is considered an average player. Most rookies, although not all, produce at a below average level in their 1st season. The 0.050 number has stuck in my head from a Wages of Wins post, which I can’t locate, as the average WP48 of rookies. This may be incorrect, but for whatever reason, it’s what stuck in my head. To make the adjustments for rookies I looked at the Basketball Prospectus Wins Above Replacement Player (WARP) projections for the rookies. In cases of a positive WARP I simply multiplies the WARP times 0.050 to get a WP48 projection. For example, a rookie projected to have a WARP of 1.5, they would have a WP48 of 0.075. In cases of a negative WARP, I multiplied 0.050 by the absolute value of the WARP and then subtracted that from 0.050. So a player with a -1.0 WARP would have a WP48 of 0.00.John Wall is projected to have a significantly negative WARP, which creates a negative WP48 which means he is actually costing his team wins instead of creating them. This is mostly due to his projected problems with turnovers and efficient scoring. But not all rookies fall into this category, some look to have a significant impact in my analysis. Here are the WP48, and Wins Produced projections of some other notable rookies:Jordan Crawford/-0.070/-1.66 Wins Produced Paul George/0.055/1.43 Wins Produced Blake Griffin/0.150/6.53 Wins Produced Evan Turner/0.125/6.67 Wins Produced Wesley Johnson/0.075/3.56 Wins Produced Derrick Favors/0.020/0.79 Wins Produced Damion James/0.080/1.90 Wins Produced DeMarcus Cousins/0.235/10.18 Wins Produced James Anderson/0.050/1.58 Wins Produced Tiago Splitter/0.205/9.09 Wins ProducedIf these numbers hold up, the Rookie of the Year should be a two horse race between DeMarcus Cousins, and Tiago Splitter.I hope this helps, Thanks again for ridaeng and commenting!

CAN SOMEBODY PULL THE TRIGGER ON MONTA ELLIS ALREADY? GOSH, TOO MANY YEARS HEARING THE SAME THING!!! THE DUDE IS GOOD, BUT HE PUNCHED OUT OF WARRIOR LAND YEARS AGO, FROM AROUND THE MOPED FIASCO. WHO WANTS SOMEBODY THAT DOESN’T REALLY WANT TO BE HERE ANYWAY!!!! HIS DEMEANOR AND LACKSAIDACAL ATTITUDE HAS HIM OUTSIDE THE ALL STAR CIRCLE, BESIDES HIM AND BIEDRINS ARE FROM THE OLD ERA (OR DID I FORGET TO MENTION LARRY RILEY AS PART OF THE OLD ERA?) THEY ALL GOT IT GO NOW. I DEMAND IT.
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE TOUGHEN UP STEPHEN CURRY PLEASE!!!??? STEPHEN CURRY YOU ARE GOOD, BUT YOU NEED TO HAVE THE MENTAL TOUGHNESS, YOU CAN’T KEEP BEING PUSHED AROUND!? SO THAT IS YOUR NEXT PHASE IN YOUR GROWING STAGE, YOU’RE GOING TO SURPRISE A LOTS OF PEOPLE, I’M COUNTING ON YOU! CAN SOMEBODY LIKE NATE ROBINSON TEACH HIM A LIL BIT? THANKS.
