New Orleans Hornets v Golden State Warriors

The Oracle Arena in Oakland currently serves as the home for the Golden State Warriors As time progresses, the move to the Mission Bay is getting closer. The new arena is angled to seat 18,000 fans on 3.2 acres.

With the move, is a name change inevitable? According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group, President and Chief of Operations for the Golden State Warriors Rick Welts has claimed no such plans:

Originally established as the Philadelphia Warriors in 1946, the Warriors moved to the west coast in the early 60s. In 1962, the franchise was relocated to San Francisco and took on the San Francisco Warriors moniker. The Golden State Warriors adopted their current name in 1971. The name change isn’t necessary as California is well known as the Golden State.
