Hiring Jerry West

In 2011, the Warriors were able to add Jerry West to their front office as their head consultant. The decision to do this worked out just as well as it originally sounded. The logo is one of the smartest basketball minds this game has ever seen.

Back in the day, he managed to assist in a trade that sent Vlade Divac for Kobe Bryant in return. He knows exactly what he is doing.

While he isn’t the one making all the moves like General Manager Bob Myers does, he is there to voice his opinion. It’s one that everyone in the organization takes seriously.

Having a legend in the front office is almost always a good move. Players admire him because it’s someone that they looked up to when they were younger and trust that he will make the right move.

When the Oracle crowd booed Joe Lacob during Chris Mullin’s jersey retirement ceremony, West was the first person to call him and let him know to not take it personally.

West was rewarded with a two-year extension at the start of the 2014-15 season. He was very vocal about the Klay Thompson trade rumors this past offseason and wanted to keep the two-way guard by all means. The two have a good relationship. After Thompson’s 37 point 3rd quarter against the Sacramento Kings, West couldn’t sleep that night. He was amazed and happy in his player’s ability.

He also isn’t afraid to let the team know what they are doing wrong. He isn’t the coach, but serves perfectly as a consultant and the Warriors are fortunate to have his personality and mind with the organization.
