Croatia beat Lithuania 90-81, which means that they won Group B, even though all 4 teams advancing out of that group were tied with 8 points.

Turns out it’s way more confusing of a process to break the tie than I assumed, and I ended up getting some calculations wrong.

I thought multiple tiebreakers ended up being decided by only point differential, but I was wrong. Apparently, the seeding in Group B is going to be Team Croatia, Team Spain, Team Lithuania, Team Argentina.

I’m not going to ask questions. Team USA is going to play Team Argentina in the quarterfinals, which evokes some negative memories.

Argentina was the team that ended USA’s gold medal hopes during the 2004 Olympics. USA ended up getting the bronze, but in this 2016 meeting, whoever loses this game also loses their medal hopes of any color.

With how vulnerable Team USA has looked the past few games, this matchup is anxiety inducing, especially given the past history between these two squads.

However, if Team USA plays at their peak, no other team in this field has the ability to beat them.

In other news, Las Vegas is considering Russell Westbrook the favorite to win NBA MVP next season.

Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are each in the top 5, but it’ll be difficult for a Warriors player to put up eye-popping stats necessary to win MVP, since they’ll be sharing the court with so many stars.
