Free agency creates as many ecstatic fans as it does heartbroken ones. As Warriors supporters are embracing Kevin Durant as the newest star player to showcase his talent in the Bay Area, Thunder fans are experiencing a bitter divorce.

Some are burning their jerseys in anger, but those were all previously bought symbols of Durant’s tenure in Oklahoma City. Sporting goods stores still have the challenge of clearing out racks of jerseys that suddenly seem much more dated than they were just a month ago.

Once they’re sold, it’s anyone’s guess whether they’ll be worn proudly or used in bonfires, but stores still have to give consumers an incentive to buy them.

One such store, Academy Sports+Outdoors, marked down Durant Thunder jerseys at 99% off. Their total price ended up being 48 cents.

The tactic worked, because the jerseys promptly sold out. Durant will be starting a new chapter in his basketball career with the Warriors, but fans of the game can wear a jersey of a legendary player bought for less money than the soda they’re drinking.

It seems like everyone’s a winner in this scenario. The store cleared out merchandise they don’t want anymore, and basketball fans got an outrageously great deal on a jersey of one of the best players in the NBA.
