Anybody who watched Oklahoma City Thunder games over the years may have seen a lot of victories, but also the familiar sight of superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook arguing on the sidelines.
While it’s true that different individuals will interact in unique ways, it was troubling from the Thunder’s perspective, because not only is it unusual to witness two notable players engaged in such heated bouts of disagreement, but the two were clearly different personality types off the court.
Judging from how they conducted themselves both on and off the court, they definitely seemed like vastly different people.
Whenever they had their vocal disagreements, it only added to the belief that they weren’t cohesive as individuals.
Billy Donovan has now given an interview that attempts to squash those rumors of any animosity between the two.
Donovan attributes the heated sideline exchanges between Durant and Westbrook as nothing more than two highly competitive players venting their frustration.
Durant and Westbrook both wanted desperately to win, and Donovan said that their arguments were simply the result of two highly motivated superstars who wanted more than anything to win.
Considering that Durant left a team that not only could have offered him the most money, but had a legitimate chance to win a championship, it’s safe to assume that he didn’t view his situation in Oklahoma City as ideal.
Durant stressed the Warriors’ fantastic team chemistry as a big reason why he signed with them, and that implies that Oklahoma City’s chemistry wasn’t ideal if he left the situation.
