It wasn’t a grand gesture of support, but Stephen Curry did give an indication of who he’s preferring in the 2016 presidential election.
At TechCrunch disrupt in San Francisco on Tuesday, Curry was asked to choose between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
Curry chose Clinton, but didn’t offer any extended explanation as to why he was leaning in that direction.
Trump may not have Curry’s support, but he has gotten endorsements from former NBA stars like Dennis Rodman and Latrell Sprewell.
Curry also spoke of Colin Kaepernick’s continued protest with the National Anthem, affirming his support of Kaepernick.
In order to address the oppression of people of color in this country, Kaepernick has decided to kneel during the National Anthem until meaningful change occurs.
Many athletes have followed Kaepernick’s lead and either kneeled during the National Anthem or raised their fist.
With the NBA regular season approaching, there’s speculation about whether NBA players will make demonstrations.
Victor Oladipo has said that he was sure there’d be players demonstrating, but Curry indicated that he wouldn’t be kneeling during the National Anthem.
While Curry is appreciative of the dialogue that has been started through Kaepernick’s actions, he wouldn’t follow his lead in terms of method.
Curry’s teammate Kevin Durant has also voiced approval of what Kaepernick is doing, but it’s unclear whether Durant would consider kneeling during the National Anthem himself.
As the election gets closer and closer, it sounds like Clinton can count on Curry’s vote on that first Tuesday of November.
