Hi there,

As some of you know, Warriors World is looking for a few more contributors to add to our excellent group of writers. You can look at both the active Warriors World team and our esteemed alumni to see where that opportunity can go for those who make the most of it.

Unsurprisingly, this kind of an open call can attract people with varied experiences and skills, which is great. However, that often makes it hard to evaluate each potential contributor on their merits. Some have examples of their writing, some do not. Some of that work is representative and relevant, some is not.

Keeping that in mind, what I would like to do is even out the process for the late 2015 period by asking those interested to submit the same thing:

Start with a topic or insight that you have not seen anywhere else in Warriors media. It does not have to be totally original but at bare minimum done in a way that would feel fresh to even diehard Warriors readers.

Write a piece on it that would be worth a reader’s time. You can use quotes, links and the like if you prefer or just your own words. Whatever works. When you get to 350 words (approximately the length of this whole prompt), stop. Ideally it would not be a self-contained, complete piece- think of it as the first part of a larger work if that helps.

Submit that 350-word section to me at [email protected] with a subject line that will make it clear it is for this Warriors World opportunity. I promise I will read every submission carefully and attentively, which may mean it could take a little bit of time depending on how many we get. There is not a hard deadline at this time. If one comes up, I will let you know.

Remember- this is more about the strength of your ideas and writing skill than anything else. As an editor, it is my job to make contributor’s work more readable but editing will not fix lackluster ideas or uninspired writing. If you have other example pieces, feel free to link/include them but the heavy priority will be the new 350-word submission.

Best of luck,
Danny Leroux
