Love Wolves

These last few days have been a roller coaster of emotions for Warriors fans. It was initially reported that a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love was close after the Warriors had agreed to include Klay Thompson. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports quickly settled things down by saying no deal was close from happening. There was also a trade with Los Angeles Lakers that was rumored to be part of the Love deal, which would have sent Thompson to Los Angeles, but nothing ever materialized.

The Warriors front office seemed split on whether they wanted to include Thompson in any type of deal this summer and their indecisiveness have scared the T-Wolves away. According to Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report, the deal between the T-Wolves and Warriors is dead and Love will likely not be traded before the draft:

Now, the Warriors might have to wait some time until they are able to make an attempt at landing Love.  This could give other teams with hopes of landing love a perfect opportunity to sweeten their deals and entice the Wolves to pull the trigger. The Warriors might to look elsewhere to improve their roster and they still want to ship David Lee, which means another deal could be on the horizon.

The addition of Love would have given the Warriors a top five player in the NBA, but Thompson has been great since being drafted and he still has room to improve. The Timberwolves seemed to be a bit greedy, wanting Thompson and a future first round pick and that price was just too hefty for some inside the Warriors’ organization.
