The Golden State Warriors have announced a new partnership with 95.7 The Game KGMZ-FM to broadcast Warriors games on the radio.

Both regular season and playoff games the Warriors participate in will be available for listeners on 95.7 The Game.

Warriors game were previously aired on KNBR 680-AM, and long-time play-by-play broadcaster Tim Roye will still be calling Warriors games on the new station.

While Roye was specifically accounted for, radio color commentator Tom Tolbert wasn’t mentioned in the statement announcing the move.

That probably means that Tolbert isn’t coming along to 95.7 The Game to provide commentary for the games.

Tolbert hosts an afternoon show every weekday on KNBR 680, so there’s likely contractual reasons why he isn’t joining Roye.

The statement also doesn’t mention whether Roye will even have a partner in the broadcast booth.

Roye is one of the best in the business. The way he paints a picture for listeners is nearly unrivaled, so he should be fine regardless.

KNBR 680-AM has been the radio home of the Warriors for 32 consecutive seasons, and 40 years overall since the Warriors moved to northern California in 1962.

The move to FM frequency makes the Warriors one of approximately 12 NBA teams that air their radio broadcasts over that frequency.

KNBR has done a great job with its partnership over the years, but all great things must come to an end.

Admittedly, I listen to KNBR more than The Game, but I may just have to shift my listening patterns due to this move.

We’ll see if Warriors wins end up sounding as great on the FM frequency as they have on the AM frequency over the years.

This could be the start of another great partnership. Considering that the last time the Warriors had a radio agreement it lasted for over three decades, The Game should be prepared to be airing Warriors games for a long time.
