The Warriors finally decided to take the initiative on something and become leaders rather than followers.  The Warriors debuted a new way to allow fans access to the team with live streaming of practices and player interviews.

This past Monday at media day, Tim Roye and Jim Barnett conducted player interviews which were live streamed on the Internet through ustream.tv and Warriors.com.  Roye and Barnett spent a few minutes catching up with players and allowing fans access to media day from the comfort of their seat at home.

Taking things up a notch the Warriors are live streaming 20-30 minutes of practice everyday during training camp along with a player interview after evening practice.

Live streaming practices allows fans to see how a NBA practice is run, fans get to see drills, strategy and other nuggets of information they’re not used to being privy to.  The Warriors are currently the only team in the league to utilize live streaming new technology to provide unparalleled access to the team.

With the PR nightmare and negative attention the Warriors have been receiving as of late its a great idea to re-connect with fans through avenues of  new coverage.

News and Notes

*Today’s interview after evening practice will be with Brandan Wright.

*Warriors open pre-season with a game Sunday vs Boom Dizzle and the Los Angeles Clippers at 6pm @ Oracle Arena.

*Anthony Morrow is the clear cut favorite to start the season at the shooting guard position.  Morrow has been practicing with the starters and has continued to perform very well in that role.

*C.J. Watson is out 1-3 weeks after straining the MCL in his right knee during practice.  Watson came into camp in a battle for the back up point guard position and it’ll be interesting to see how he comes back from his injury.

*Sources around the league say that the Warriors will have a tough time moving Stephen Jackson unless they’re willing to take back a player who’s in a long-term contract.  The Warrior receiving the most attention from other teams is Kelenna Azubuike.  Multiple teams offered the Warriors a future 1st round pick in exchange for Azubuike this off-season but the Warriors declined every offer as they view Azubuike as one of the more underrated players in the NBA and as a great asset coming off the bench.
