What’s it like to win 63 of your first 70 games? Well, you’ll have to ask the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors since they are the only team to ever accomplish that feat in NBA history. Yes, that’s right, the Warriors are the first team to ever rack up that many wins in that amount of games. It breaks the Chicago Bulls’ record from 1995-96.

With their win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night, Golden State made history. It’s something that they’ve done quite often this season, so this really is nothing new for them. It is uncharted water for the league, though, and it’s quite amazing what this team has accomplished so far.

From John Chick at theScore dot com:

With the win, the Warriors have a 63-7 record, which is the best record through 70 games in NBA history. The historical franchise they have been most compared to, the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls, were 62-8 after 70. That keeps the Dubs ahead of them in their pursuit of breaking the all-time record of 72-10 with 12 games remaining.

Up next for Golden State? A home tilt against the hated Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night. Oracle Arena will most certainly be rocking and loud, and the team will need them to be in order to keep the momentum going. It’s the beginning of a four-game homestand, and a stretch where eight of the next nine are in Oakland.

If the Warriors are to challenge the Bulls’ single-season wins record, then this is the stretch that they’re going to do so with. There are only 12 games left to go in the season, and any slip-up would be monumental. Still, they do need to start getting some rest. With this team, though, they might be able to have their cake and eat it too.
