NBA: Golden State Warriors at Sacramento Kings

Marreese Speights’ second season with the Golden State Warriors was a success. While coming off the bench, Speights was able to spark some offense and drain midrange shots. Going on scoring runs by himself, he was a crucial piece to the championship puzzle.

The Warriors picked up the team option on Speights so he knew quickly where he would be playing next year. Glad to be back, Speights has been on Twitter expressing his thoughts:

Brook Lopez resigned a three year $60 million deal to stay with the Brooklyn Nets and his twin Robin will join him in the big apple. Playing at Madison Square Garden, Robin chose leave Portland and head east. Now the brothers will be about 25 minutes apart if they take the subway.

Speights made sure to clarify and referred to the Morris twins who played together their entire lives until their rookie seasons. Phoenix traded and brought in Marcus to reunite with Markieff. Together, they played much better and even moved in together. The NBA is a business and Marcus was recently traded to Detroit. Speights is also ready for the next season to begin.

On opening night, the Warriors will receive their rings, raise their banner, and defend their championship. It’s easy to see why Speights would be excited for the season to begin but until then, he’ll have to settle by watching the youngters of the league play in the Summer League.
