With Steve Kerr taking time to recover from his back surgery, Luke Walton was asked to step in and coach the Warriors. Through 43 games, Walton kept the ship afloat. With a 39-4 record, he raised eyebrows around the league.

According to the Los Angeles Lakers, Walton has agreed to a multi-year contract to lead the rebuilding franchise:

As you may already know, the Warriors will see the Lakers four times in the regular season as they both compete in the Pacific Division. Walton will replace Byron Scott. Under Scott, the Lakers rewrote history by finishing with the worst record in franchise history in consecutive seasons.

As a member of the Lakers, Walton claimed two championships in 2009 and 2010. Walton will begin taking over following the conclusion of the Warriors postseason run.
