Although the matchup only featured Kyrie Irving for one game, the fans kept tuning in. The other member of the “Big 3”, Kevin Love was trounced early in the postseason after Kelly Olynyk injured his shoulder. On the Big Podcast with Shaq, Kyrie appeared and expressed his true thoughts:

I’m more or less the voice of reason. I’m always gonna be a straight shooter with everyone and give them my honest opinion. Obviously, we had a great thing in Cleveland. We dealt with everything together. I felt like we would have definitely won an NBA championship if everyone was healthy. But almost doesn’t count.

It’s easy to understand where Irving is coming from but its a give and take situation. With Love on the Floor, the offense is extended with his range but they lose the athleticism and hustle of Tristan Thompson (averaged 10 points and 13 rebounds). Although they lost, don’t forget Timofey Mozgov dominated Game 4 and dropped 28 points. Irving’s time on court would limit Matthew Dellavedova’s defense on Steph. Although he fizzled off, he made it hard for Steph to get open or anything easy.

Next season, the Cavaliers will be back together and they truly believe they could’ve won as Kevin Love returned on a huge contract extension. In a perfect world, both teams will meet again at full strength but only one thing matters, the Golden State Warriors finished the 2015 NBA Finals in 6 games and are the World Champions.
