Head coach, Steve Kerr has been trying to balance the perfect marriage between going after the 73-win mark, which would set the single-season record, or to rest his players down the stretch in order to preserve them as the playoffs kick off in about a week. Well, we now know the Golden State Warriors are going to talk about it.
After all, it is a big decision to be made by the players. Do you want to spend the extra energy going after the record or do you want to actually get some rest at the end of a long season and get ready for a postseason run that could see you win your second straight championship? It’s a tough choice, but one that’s needed.

“We’re going to talk about it (Friday),” coach Steve Kerr said of the approach to the final three games. “We’ve been putting it off for as long as we were able to, which was until we got the 1-seed. Now that we have that, I’m inclined to give some guys some rest if they need it. But I’ve sort of made a pact with the guys that if they’re not banged up and they’re not tired, and if they want to go for this record or whatever then. So we’ve got to talk.”
The talk will be interesting because, as Kerr states, if the players are not too banged up or tired then they’re going to probably want to play and try to set the new record. If that’s the case, then it’s going to be a delicate balance for Kerr. You can still get the record while resting guys during games, you just have to be smart about it.
A lot of the rest could be given in the second half of blowouts if the Warriors throttle the Memphis Grizzlies in their two remaining meetings. If that’s the case, then perhaps the rest and record dilemma will actually sort itself out as the Warriors find themselves reaching 73 wins while achieving their rest.
