With the NBA season approaching, the Warriors need to finalize their roster. The big names have nothing to worry about, so you are not going to see anything surprising. However, for those fighting for the last one or two spots on the roster, it’s going to be a tense couple of days.
Even if you make the team with one of the final roster spots, you’re not going to be playing much, but why would you pass on an opportunity to have court-side seats for every Warriors game?
For some, that dream came to an end today. The Warriors have cut their roster down to 15 players. The three players that were waived today were Cameron Jones, Phil Pressey and Elliot Williams. The Warriors have a multitude of guards, so there was not much opportunity for them to land on the roster.

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Golden State Warriors have waived guards Cameron Jones, Phil Pressey and Elliot Williams, the team announced today.
Jones appeared in five preseason games, averaging 5.0 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 11.5 minutes. Pressey also appeared in five games, averaging 2.4 points and 1.0 assist in 10.7 minutes. Williams missed all six preseason games due to right knee surgery. All three players were originally signed on September 16, 2016.
The Warriors can have 15 players on the roster, but only 12 will be active to start the season. These three players didn’t make the big club, but could still be part of the Warriors organization through the NBA D-League.
One of the players who earned a roster spot was JaVale McGee, who is one of the few players who can protect the rim. He might not see a lot of playing time early, but he will definitely get a shot.
