NBA: Washington Wizards at Golden State Warriors

The Warriors have looked lethargic for most of the series against the Cavaliers. With the exception of overtime in Game 1, the Warriors have been outplayed in almost every facet of the game. Yes, the shots are not falling like they used to, but their energy and overall effort has been subpar.

Draymond Green is known as the heartbeat of this squad, but has not been providing the energy that has made him successful all season long. According to Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group, Green feels the Warriors would be up in the series if he played up to his potential:

“If I play to my level, I think we’re up 3-0,” Draymond Green said in an exclusive interview. “But I haven’t. So we’re down 2-1. So it’s on me.”

Green simply has not been the same player Warriors fans have grown to love. Part of it could be due a nasty fall he took in Game 2. Green has been able to play, but has been dealing with back spasms that have restricted him a bit.

However, this is the NBA Finals and both teams can see the finish line, but the Cavs are the only team playing with desperation. Green acknowledges that despite his injuries, it’s on him to provide the Warriors with a spark. If Green is grabbing rebounds, taking charges and diving for loose balls, the Warriors are in a much better place.

The team does not survive without their heartbeat and they need Draymond Green to bring the intensity more than ever. This series is not over, but if the Warriors can’t figure it out in Game 4, then just might be.
