Klay Thompson proved to be one of the best young shooting guards this summer with his play at the FIBA World Cup. Not only did he beat out some great guards to make the Team USA roster, but he took advantage of the opportunity by leading the team in scoring on several different occasions. Thompson and Steph Curry were instrumental in helping Team USA win the gold medal this summer in Spain and will likely be asked to represent the United States in the 2016 Olympic games.

The Golden State Warriors are heading to the 2014-15 season with enormous expectations, especially with the “Splash Brothers” in their prime of their career and a great supporting cast surrounding them. With Thompson’s  participation in the FIBA World Cup, some might wonder whether he will enter the season with fatigue issues. According to Jordan Ramirez, Thompson isn’t worried about fatigue, especially not at 24 years old:

Thompson has had a busy summer, but he is still very young and does not have many miles on those legs. It is important to remember that Thompson is only 24 years old and has already established himself as one of the better shooting guards in the NBA. If Thompson was 34, then fatigue would definitely be an issue, but Thompson is blessed with being young and eager to play basketball at all times.

While Thompson could play over 40 minutes per game this season, coach Steve Kerr should do a much better job of managing his minutes than last year. Thompson is young enough to endure the 82 game season, but it is important to keep him fresh for the postseason. Thompson is improving daily, it will be exciting to see where he takes his game this upcoming season.
