NBA: Golden State Warriors at Portland Trail Blazers

The Warriors have hit the road and found themselves in Portland to take on the Trail Blazers. Portland will have their hands full as they will be without Lamarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum. Klay Thompson returned from injury last night and will be limited to 25 minutes once again. This will be the first of four games away from the Oracle.

Damian Lillard will run the show and look for Steph to come back swinging. Fans will be in delight to see what should be a high scoring matchup.

1st Quarter

Klay Thompson scored the first bucket of the game and followed it with a triple to give the Warriors an early 5-0 lead. Harrison Barnes contributed with a shot from long distance and Steph Curry hit a jumper to give the Dubs the 10-6 lead. The Blazers quickly came back to tie the game. Midway through the quarter both teams were trading baskets, but the Blazers took a small lead after Dorell Wright hit five straight points and Damian Lillard followed with five of his own. The pace favored the Dubs, but the Blazers were successful penetrating and they didn’t turn the ball over. Barnes was a consistent option on offense and he had seven points to lead the Dubs, but they trailed 30-26. The Blazers didn’t have a field goal in the last three minutes, but Lillard did hit four free throws to secure their lead.

2nd Quarter

The scoring picked up for both teams to start the second quarter. The shots started falling for the Dubs and the second unit were able to tie the game. Andre Iguodala’s shooting has been on point as of late and tonight was not any different. Unfortunately, the Warriors got cold and CJ McCollum got hot and the Blazers now led by seven. The Blazers had all the momentum and they went on a 15-4 run. Curry responded with back-to-back triples and the Warriors were now down six. Lillard responded with a thee point play and both teams were trading baskets after that. The Blazers protected their six point lead and they were up 62-57 at the break.

3rd Quarter

Once again both teams start the quarter by making buckets. The Warriors then went on a 10-0 run, which gave them the lead and it silenced the Portland crowd. Steph Curry then shifted to another level. The man was unstoppable and he was making it rain in Portland. Curry had 1o points in the first seven minutes of the quarter and the Warriors were blowing this game open.  The score was 80-69 and the life was sucked out of the home crowd. The Blazers showed some signs of life by going on a 8-2 run after a Lillard triple. The Warriors lead was down to five and the crowd was back in it. The Dubs finished the third on an 11-4 run thanks to Andre Iguodala who looked unstoppable. His performance was crucial in giving the Warriors a 93-80 lead going into the final period.

4th Quarter

Iggy picked up where he left off and started the fourth with a triple. McCollum came alive again and responded with one of his own. The Blazers were able to cut the lead to single digits with eight minutes to go, but the Warriors were quick to respond. Curry has been a nightmare for the Blazers and he kept getting buckets. The Dubs were shooting just under 60 percent for the game and all they had to do was protect this lead. Curry was involved in every way and he was easily responsible for this win. The Blazers would make small runs, but they were no real threats. The starters finished the game and they were not going to let the Blazers even get close. Curry was unbelievable, Draymond was instrumental and Iguodala was exceptional. The Warriors won 122-108.
