The road to 73 wins is never an easy one obviously, but for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, it’s something that has to be taken one day at a time. That is, of course, if you are to take the star point guard at his word when he appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Tuesday.

Curry joined the national network to talk about the team and their season, and he was asked about the team’s approach to a possible record-breaking season that could see them topple the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ mark of 72 wins all those years ago. His response was something you would expect from him and this team.

From Stephen Curry’s appearance on SportsCenter Tuesday:

“When you go 24-0 your imagination just kind of goes crazy after that — how many wins can we get? But I think we’ve done a very good job of — and this is very cliché obviously — but taking it one game at a time and that’s how we’ve gotten to this point,” Curry said Tuesday on SportsCenter.

The key here is, as he says, the team is taking it just “one game at a time.” As he notes, it does sound very cliche, but it also is the truth. You can’t get caught looking too far ahead or else that’s when accidents happen. Every game must take on its own level of respect and dignity.

The Warriors, thus far, have done that. While there have been a few blips here and there on the radar, they still are on pace to get to 73 wins this regular season and steamroll into the playoffs as the overwhelming favorites. Still, as Curry says, they’ll always take it one game at a time.

Cliche or not, the Warriors are a model of consistency in an era that lacks that for the most part — outside of the San Antonio Spurs, of course. We might be on the verge of witnessing a new dynasty taking hold, and it’ll be one that approaches the game how every team dreams of doing so. Just one game at a time.
