2015 is coming to an end and there’s probably nobody on this planet who had a better year than Stephen Curry. Winning the NBA’s regular season MVP award in April wasn’t enough. He also claimed his first NBA ring and bolstered his image with his mesmerizing skills. Although this season is a new one, it’s more of the same and Steph is still handing out more than the league can handle.
In an amazing display of his play, Curry’s jersey sales have skyrocketed 581 percent and is the top seller in 38 of the 50 states in the United States (by the way, that’s 76 percent). Time to add another accolade for the point guard. The Associated Press 2015 Male Athlete of the Year title has been award to Stephen Curry.
In a vote by U.S. editors and news directors, Curry was the number one choice. Looking back, the amount of NBA players winning this award is scarce; only LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Larry Bird have been honored in 85 years. In 2015, the other candidates included American Pharaoh and Jordan Spieth (Steph’s Under Armour brand-mate).
