After beating Memphis in six games, the Warriors are favored to reach the NBA Finals and they got off to a good start by winning Game 1 against the Houston Rockets. While the Warriors won the first game, the Rockets played a great game and could have easily stolen home court advantage.

The Warriors will need to come out more aggressive out of the gates in Game 2. The Rockets will be looking to get a similar performance from James Harden in order to stay competitive. Harden will likely look to slow the game down with his drives to basket.

The Warriors need Steph Curry to be himself and they should be in good shape. The NBA on the other hand wants Curry to stop flopping. According to Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle, Curry was fined $5,000 for “flopping” on a made three pointer:

While you have to applaud the NBA for wanting to stop flopping, this was not warranted in this case. There was contact on that play and Curry just fell back. There was no foul called, so it obviously was not good enough to get a foul called from the officials. This is Curry’s first year as a superstar, but he still does not get treated like one by the officials.

If the NBA is going to fine for flopping on plays like this, then they must take a look at Harden, who makes a living out of drawing fouls. Harden sells them very well, so the NBA must be act on him as well. The fine will not hurt Curry, but it’s the principle.

Curry is a class act on and off the court and he doesn’t need to flop in order to be effective. Here’s a Vine of the play that got Curry the fine. You be the judge, was it a flop?
