First, the Warriors have to take care of Game 5 and they are going to need Steph Curry to provide his usual heroics. Baron Davis wants to see Curry save the day too, but he wants to see it on the big screen.

According to Jen Yamato of The Daily Beast, Davis wants to make an Avengers style movie with basketball players and Curry would be one of stars of the film:

Maybe the most exciting potential project for fans of basketball and movies that Davis says he’s developing is a “big, broad live-action movie that will star a bunch of NBA players—kind of like an Avengers for basketball players… an A-Team of guys that have to do something to save the world.”

“This is basically for all the current guys like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, the Westbrooks, the Hardens, guys like that,” he enthused. “I mean, I wanted it to be Space Jam 2! I love Space Jam. And there have been so many great basketball movies. [But] there’s been a big void in basketball movies and good stories that come from sports. Now that the sports audience is there, I want to build a brand and a company that speaks to that audience and gives them an opportunity to talk back.”

Warriors fans already think of Curry as a super hero, might as well see it on the big screen as well. Davis made his directorial debut with “The Drew: No Excuse, Just Produce,” a film about one of the most storied pro-am basketball leagues. Now, Davis looking to future projects and wants to see basketball payers come out in a movie where they save the world.

Davis would love direct Space Jam 2, but that’s highly unlikely to happen. However, a movie that could include the best players in the NBA to save the planet could be entertaining. Space Jam is a classic for us who watched it growing up.

The younger generation of basketball fans need a movie they can call their own.
