On the emotions on being selected as an All-Star Game Starter…
It was kind of surreal at the time… Definitely a rewarding moment, me and my family watching the telecast seeing my picture pop up, it was a great moment for us and something we’ll remember.
On who was most excited…
I was sitting on my couch with my head in my hands and my wife was probably the most excited as she started screaming and running around. We have a little 18 month old baby too and she started screaming not really knowing what was going on too, it was a cool moment.
On the feeling of what you’ve accomplished this season…
There’s some guys on the team that I’ve watched before I even got to the league and obviously my peers now we’re all trying to get to the top… To go in there to see our jerseys hanging, seeing the names and take it all in… I’m looking forward to every minute of it.
On sharing this experience with your father, Dell Curry…
To be on the same court, under the lights and shoot some jumpers with my dad is going to be an amazing feeling. We have a lot of family members here who are looking forward to watching it as well…
On the state of Dell Curry’s shot these days…
He’s one of those guys who doesn’t think he needs to warm-up… He feels like he can show up in pressure situations and knock them down. He’s excited about it.
On Assist numbers being up this season…
I got the ball a lot more in my hands this year, last year we had Jarrett Jack who took a lot of that responsibility as well so I could play off the ball. This year I’ve been able to make a lot more decisions and draw more attention on the court so I can get my teammates involved. Obviously, they’re the ones making the shots so credit to them. Our offense is pretty fluid and we have a lot of threats out on the court at all times. They make me look good just by getting them the ball and making plays. Just trying to stay as aggressive as possible with every opportunity I have to make plays.
On the Bench being the biggest concern for the rest of the season…
Knowing we wanted to keep starters minutes down, we made a move for Jordan Crawford and MarShon Brooks, two guys who can put the ball in the basket and defend as well. Those guys are going to continue to gel and we’re staying confident. There’s no panic at all about the situation, we’re just going to try to get better each game. As it gets to crunch-time after the All-Star break, hopefully it all clicks and we find ways to hold leads and capitalize on leads.
On the difficulty of playing in the Western Conference…
It is Tough… We were laughing the other day about how we didn’t play and jumped two spots… Then we lose on a buzzer beater to LeBron and drop two spots. Every game is so important especially when you’re playing at home in games you’re supposed to win. That’s going to be a priority for us after the All-Star break to understand regardless of who we’re playing every game is important in establishing our playoff position.
On the struggles after the 10 game winning streak…
We just lacked consistency… Dealing with new expectations this season, we got to have the mental toughness to stick with the program and stay aggressive to what we’re trying to do on the floor. We lost a lot of winnable games at home, it was frustrating but also a learning process to go through those emotions. We just have to stick to the process like Coach Jackson tells us and build the consistency back up.
On the new 3 pt contest format of placing the 5 moneyballs on any rack…
Probably at the corner at the end. I’m not worried about getting my shot off in time, I got a quick release. The last 5 I hopefully have a rhythm and hopefully be able to knock them down. I practiced a couple of times and my best rack was my last rack… Hopefully I’ll be able to capitalize on that.
