Sean Kilpatrick is a 24 year old guard standing at 6’4’’. He is older than many other players in the 2014 Draft which may have led all NBA teams to pass on him. Although he went undrafted, don’t count him out as he can simply play ball.

With a mechanically sound stroke, his offensive game in the NCAA level was never questioned. He joins Hall-of-Famer Oscar Robertson as the only players to score more than 2,000 points in his college years at Cincinnati. His solid body type allows him finish at the rim even with contact from defenders. Bill Koch of the Enquirer reports:

Former UC guard Sean Kilpatrick is expected to sign with the Golden State Warriors this weekend…

With the pre-season nearing its end, he’ll be a long shot to make the regular season roster by the time the season opens but the Warriors can retain his rights and send him down to play for the D-League affiliate in Santa Cruz. In a reduced backup role, Kilpatrick may very well be the third “Splash Brother”.

From NBADraft.net, the player report on Kilpatrick praises his offense:

Strengths: Strong, smooth, natural scorer who made elite NCAA defenses look silly … With 20.7 PPG, Kilpatrick was fourth among all players in traditional power conferences in scoring and first in the AAC … Great body control makes him an excellent finisher at the rim…Good outside shooter who made 35% of his threes this past season on a massive volume of shots … Put up the production he did despite facing frequent double teams due to a lack of complementary offensive weapons for the Bearcats … Good pull-up jumper … Great at jumping the passing lanes. Averaged 1.4 SPG this past season … Elevates his game against good competition. Averaged 24.7 PPG against ranked opponents … Great at seeing holes and taking what the defense gives him … Good rebounding guard…85% free throw shooter … Very strong guard which allows him to finish through contact … Comes into the NBA a seasoned pro who knows how to create offense …

Kilpatrick had undergone knee surgery on August 20 to repair a slight tear of meniscus cartilage in his knee. The Warriors are expected to sign Kilpatrick over this weekend making him a low risk, high reward player. Kilpatrick seems to have a humble attitude as his Twitter is filled with well wishes and congratulations from friends, family, and friends. Kilpatrick also played in the Las Vegas Summer League averaging 11.5 points in six games for the Philadelphia 76ers.
