Nemanja Nedovic Warriors Away

The Warriors believed Nemanja Nedovic would transition well to the NBA when they drafted him 30th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft, but he hasn’t seen the floor much in his short time with the team. Nedovic’s athleticism is evident, but injuries have slowed him down and he hasn’t been able to get in a rhythm. The Warriors brought in Shaun Livingston from the Brooklyn Nets and un-drafted free agent Aaron Craft has become one of Steve Kerr’s favorite players.

The Warriors have to decide whether to exercise Nedovic’s third year option on his contract by October 31st, so he will know his future with the franchise at start of the season. According to E. Carchia of Sportando.com, Nedovic’s agent is not happy with the lack of playing time Nedovic has received during his lone season with the Warriors:

In a long interview with B92.net (here the transcription in English), Serbian agent Misko Raznatovic talked about his client Nemanja Nedovic.

The Serbian point guard will spend his second season with the Warriors even if he did not have a lot of playing time so far (24 games with 5:55 minutes on the court in his rookie year).

“I don’t know if he’s gonna get a proper chance. They’re promising he will, but we’ll see, he’s had a lot of injuries. I hope everything is gonna be all right” said Misko Raznatovic.

Injuries have been a big reason why Nedovic hasn’t seen much playing time and he was hoping to prove his worth during the World Cup of Basketball, but suffered a foot injury before the tournament began. Nedovic is a member of the Serbian National Team, which faced Team USA in the gold medal game, but lost 129-92. Nedovic has been able to participate in training camp, so this is his opportunity to make a final impression.

Nedovic played for the Summer League team in Las Vegas, but his play didn’t impress management. If he’s able to stay healthy and display his athleticism, he could be a dangerous weapon. The Warriors might not want to keep him, but Nedovic is auditioning for 29 other teams and he might be able to earn himself a new contract. The Warriors have their starting point guard, but they’ve had trouble finding Steph Curry a back-up. Nedovic deserves one final shot to be contributor on this roster.
