NBA: Golden State Warriors at Utah Jazz

The Warriors looked to continue their six game winning streak against the Jazz today. This was their first road game in some time and they had lost three games away from Oracle in a row. The Jazz aren’t very good, but they have some players who could cause the Dubs some trouble.

In case you missed the game, here’s our instant recap:

1st Quarter:

The Warriors started with a balanced attack in Utah. The Jazz opened the game with great energy and the game was close to start the game. The Jazz had some success inside the paint and Derrick Favors had five points in the first eight minutes. A Gordon Hayward triple gave the Jazz a five point advantage and the home crowd was really into it. The second unit for the Dubs came to save the day at the end of the first. They scored six points in the last minute and a half and the Warriors were down one.

2nd Quarter

The reserves kept playing well to start the second quarter, they scored eight points in the first three minutes, but the Jazz kept scoring too. The Jazz then went on a 7-0 run and the arena once again was on their feet. Steph Curry came back in the game and hit three buckets for seven points and cut the lead to one.  Draymond Green was late to the party, but he made an impact by scoring five points in 30 seconds, but the Jazz kept up with the Warriors. A Harrison Barnes layup tied the game 53 as they went into the break.

3rd Quarter

The starters came back in the second half and started strong. It was a collective effort led by Curry when the Warriors went on a 23-10 run. The Jazz were scoring, but the Warriors looked unstoppable. They hit six three pointers and the game was started to get out of hand. The Jazz responded with a 7-0 run of their own and were only down 76-70. The Warriors cooled off a bit midway through the quarter, but then they picked it up a bit. Triples from Draymond Green and Klay Thompson grew the lead to 12. The Warriors took a 88-72 lead after another two baskets from Barnes and Thompson. This was the highest scoring quarter of the year for the Warriors, they dropped 44 points in the third and led 97-80.

4th Quarter

Barbosa was a spark off the bench to start the final period. With the second unit on the floor, both teams were scoring, but not very much. The Warrior lead looked safe. Although the Dubs only had eights points in the first five minutes of the fourth. A Holiday triple gave the Warriors a 20 point lead and the game seemed to be over. Favors and Gobert fought to get their team back, but the deficit was too large to overcome.
