NBA: Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves

The Golden State Warriors are looking for their 42nd win before heading home. This will also be the last game before both splash brothers are sent to NY for the all star festivities. The Timberwolves are looking to get back on the winning track after losing to the eastern conference power house, Atlanta Hawks.

Check out our instant recap:

1st Quarter

Both teams come out scoring the ball to start the game and this type of pace would typically favor the Dubs, but the T-Wolves were hitting their shots and they kept up with Golden State. Andrew Bogut was the surprise of the first  quarter, he was very active and was moving very well. He had six early points, but the Wolves played with poise and after battling numerous injuries all of them were finally healthy. Up until the last minute of the first quarter, both teams had played an even game. They both hit shots and it looked like the lead was bound to keep switching. The Warriors were down three and this looked similar to the Sixer game. However, the Dubs went on a 6-0 run to end the quarter.

2nd Quarter

Second quarter means second unit and they’ve been one of the best in the league. When the second unit is clicking, they are able to extend leads for Steve Kerr, which allows him to rest his key players. I could write down all the players that scored to start the quarter, but I won’t bore you, they all scored. They were efficient and the Warriors were now up eight points. Midway through the quarter some of the starters began to check into the game. Harrison Barnes has also played really well so far and he hit a triple to  put the lead at double digits. Back to back triples from Curry and Barnes raised the lead to 13. Minnesota kept chipping away and they were able to get the lead back down to 10 to end the half.

3rd Quarter

Minnesota was hungry to start the second half and they went on a 6-0 run. Klay responded with a triple and the scoring slowed down on both ends of the floor. The Warriors only had two buckets in the first six minutes, one from each Splash Brother. The Wolves took advantage and got as close as three thanks to a complete team effort. After a disappointing start to the second, the Warriors finally got going. They went on a 9-0 run and the lead was quickly up to 12. A 6-0 run to end the third quarter cut the lead to six and once again they had some life. The Warriors have recently had trouble closing out teams and now once again they head to final period with the game in doubt.

4th Quarter

The second unit starts the fourth and once again they give this team a spark. In about 50 seconds, they scored six points and the lead was once again double digits. Kevin Martin stopped the bleeding by making a jumper, but the second unit kept their foot on the gas. A couple of layups from Barbosa and Speights the lead was now at 14. With about seven minutes left, things took a turn for the worst. The Wolves went on a 12-0 run and the lead was down to 2. After all that, the Warriors had let the slip away and the Target center crowd was on their feet. Curry was able to knock down some clutch buckets, but the Wolves were relentless. The lead was down to one and Curry couldn’t convert, giving Minnesota a chance to win. Pekovic had a good look at the basket, but couldn’t convert and the Warriors regained possession. After quite a scare, the Warriors took the win.
