NBA: Toronto Raptors at Golden State Warriors

The Warriors continue on their road trip and will look to bounce back after last night’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Toronto Raptors are no longer a lottery-bound team as they remain one of the East’s most competitive. The Warriors won their first meeting back at the Oracle.

1st Quarter:

The Warriors would find themselves wearing their Home Whites against the Raptors who decided to wear their throwbacks. In a sloppy start, the Warriors were able to race out to a 14-2 lead with tenacious defense and hustle. The Warriors kept the Raptors stifled and force them to shoot 1-11 from the field. Festus Ezeli and Justin Holiday checked in, and the teamwork continued as the Warriors kept attacking offensively. Curry kept finding Klay Thompson for trey balls. The Raptors ended 1-19 and scored most of their points from the charity stripe.

2nd Quarter:

The second unit has been deployed to give the starters rest. The Raptors began to crawl back and find energy as the lead shrunk to 27-17. Mo Speights continues to drain midrange jumpers between 17 and 20 feet to make the most of his minutes. Draymond continued to make three balls pushing his percentage to 75%. Thompson’s midrange shot pushed the Warriors lead to 22. With a tad less than 4 minutes to play, Curry re-entered for Livingston and quickly drained a shot.

3rd Quarter:

The Warriors especially Klay came out firing. He scored the first eleven points of the quarter and three consecutive long balls. The Warriors are truly showing off their dominance with the entire team pitching in. A Curry outlet pass to Thompson led to an emphatic alley-oop to Barnes. Curry continued the put the hurt onto his father’s former team to push the lead to 40.  The Warriors are playing loosely and with a purpose. With less than three minutes remaining, the reserves have entered to finish the contest. Ezeli and Tyler Hansbrough got locked up tempers flared. Both players were ejected for the altercation. The Warriors put up 44 points in the quarter and led 98-57.

4th Quarter:

The fourth quarter began with Livingston, Holiday, Lee, Speights, and Barbosa. Back to back charges called against Speights made him furious. Barbosa’s quick baseline drive stopped a Raptors 11-0 fourth quarter run. Toronto hasn’t thrown in the towel but continue to  leave DeMar Derozan out. The lead dwindled down to 26 with a little more than five minutes remaining. The reserves from both teams began to run up the score. The Splash Brothers combined for 47 without playing the fourth and Draymond pitched in an efficient 17. The Warriors get back in the win column with a 112-90 victory.
