Preview: The Golden State Warriors (2-1) will travel tonight to the hostile Philadelphia 76ers (3-0) grounds with a shot at the NBA title. Matchups do not become much more compelling than that folks.

Some of you might be wondering whether I should be committed or not at this point, but there’s actually a method to the madness. Grantland introduced the NBA regular-season champion belt at the start of the season and the 76ers are the current champs.

The Miami Heat started the season with the title and proudly defended it against the Chicago Bulls on opening night. On the following evening, the Heat fell at the hands of Philadelphia and essentially the belt was transferred over to the 76ers much like in the WWE.

The 76ers are currently undefeated. On top of beating the Heat, they have also posted victories over the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls. This team has a chance to start off the season with four straight wins despite the initial projection that they would tank for a chance at drafting Andrew Wiggins.

Philadelphia will play their first game against a Western Conference opponent and all in all, it will be interesting to see if they can maintain the pace of the Dubs.

In their two victories, the Warriors have run off the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings off the court. They have done this with solid 3-point shooting and transition play. It’s worth noting that this occurred at Oracle Arena.

The 76ers will have to go blow for blow tonight and one can only wonder if they have enough firepower. They have scored at a top-10 rate so far in the season despite playing against two of the best defenses in the NBA.

However, the Warriors currently sport the second-best offense in the league and it’s debatable at this point whether Philly will be able to hang. Their one chance might be to force turnovers given that Golden State has been uncharacteristically sloppy with the ball through three contests.

Injury update: Harrison Barnes participated in shootaround earlier today but is not scheduled to play tonight.
