The end of October is an exciting time for Warriors fans, the NBA season is about to begin and the Dubs are entering the season with a lot of hype. However, the Warriors have until Halloween (October 31st) to sign Klay Thompson to a contract extension. Thompson is looking for a max deal and the Warriors are a bit hesitant. Ideally you would like this to get resolved sooner rather than later, but both sides can’t seem to come to an agreement.
If the Warriors are unable to sign Thompson by the deadline, then he will become a restricted free agent. This is an interesting situation for the Warriors. If Thompson hits the market as a restricted free agent, there’s numerous teams who would be willing to give him the a max deal and the Warriors would be forced to match. So why not get it done now and get it over with?
