With most of the focus on USA Basketball, NBA news has been light. Thankfully, Bleacher Report has ranked the top 10 duos in the NBA and the Golden State Warriors found themselves on that list. The Warriors have accumulated a talented group of young players, which makes the present and future promising. Surprisingly, it’s not the first duo that comes to mind that made the final cut.
The “Splash Brothers” are one of the most exciting young duos in the NBA, but that wasn’t enough to make them a top 10 duo. According to Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report, Andrew Bogut is the perfect side kick for Steph Curry:
Bogut joins his sharpshooting teammate because he represents the perfectly dour yin to Curry’s affable yang.
Maybe they lack a sufficiently splashy nickname, but Curry and Bogut are Golden State’s two most important players. More than that, they’re the perfect complementary pair.
Both Curry and Bogut are leaders on the team and they have their own way of contributing on a nightly basis. Curry is able to carry the team offensively and be clutch down the stretch, while Bogut is the anchor on the defensive end and his effort around the rim gave the Warriors a top five defense last season. Klay Thompson and Curry also make a great duo, but Bogut is the defensive presence that a team needs to win a championship.
Health is always the biggest factor. If the Warriors can stay healthy for the majority of the season, they are capable of dominating on both ends of the floor. Not sure if we can come up with a better nickname than “Splash Brothers”, but that won’t matter much if Curry and Bogut are able to lead the Warriors to a deep post-season run.
