NBA: San Antonio Spurs at Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have started another streak, after going 5-0 to start the season, the Warriors have now dropped two straight games. The San Antonio Spurs came into Oracle Arena last night and demonstrated their championship pedigree. It was an interesting contrast between a wise and experienced championship caliber team and a young squad looking to get over the hump.

It’s still early in the season and Coach Kerr and the Warriors still have a lot of growing to do. While many people do not believe in moral victories, at the very least this is a learning experience for the Warriors. The Spurs are the blue print, the Warriors have all the pieces, but they just have to put it together.

We take a look at the top 3 the Warriors lost to the Spurs last night:

1. Turnovers

Shocker! The Warriors give the ball away…A LOT! The Warriors have managed to win five games, but the turnovers have beenNBA: San Antonio Spurs at Golden State Warriors consistent all season. A disciplined and intelligent team like the Spurs easily capitalizes on the opponent’s mistakes and when you’re just handing them the ball, they are impossible to beat.

According to NBA.com, the Warriors committed 19 turnovers last night and their average is up to 21.9, which is the most in the NBA. The Spurs were able to score 21 points off those turnovers, giving them easy offense. The Spurs on the other hand only committed eight turnovers and the Warriors only scored 12 points off those mistakes.

Klay Thompson led the team with four giveaways and Steph Curry had three of his own. The Splash Brothers must be the first to correct this problem and set the standard for the rest of the team. The Warriors lost by 13 points last night, so if you cut the turnovers in half, the Warriors would have had a shot to win the game.
