Strengths: Jason is one of the league's most dynamic finishers. Known most for his slam dunk championships, he's worked diligently to improve the rest of his game. Jason now utilizes a variety of moves around the basket, making good use of his length and hang time to convert in traffic. Gets great lift on his jumper and has improved his ability to catch and shoot. A capable passer, but not the type to consistently create off the dribble. Jason is a very good rebounder from the SG position and has the athleticism to block shots. Not especially tall for the position, but is able to post up opposing SG's with relative success. His wingspan, strength and leaping ability allow Jason to play bigger than he is. Tough player, who works hard.
Weaknesses: Jason's two biggest weaknesses are his ball handling and his footwork. The two combine to hurt him on the drive where Jason has trouble consistently beating his man. Defensively, Jason has trouble staying in front of quicker guards and can get lost in traffic. He's not a liability, but his defense still needs work. A good shooter, but consistency could be better. He often leaves his feet when passing on the drive. Jason has missed key free throws at the ends of games and his percentage from the charity stripe is below average for a starting 2. Outlook: Jason has shown steady improvement over the course of his Warrior career, but off-season knee surgery and a broken hand have kept him out of the line-up for much of this season. He hasn't had as much time in Nelson's system as many of his teammates, but experience and familiarity should yield improvements to his overall efficiency and effectiveness on both ends of the floor. |
