Opening night for the Warriors has consistently been the happiest night of the year for Warriors fans.  It's a great night because we haven't lost yet. Starved fans are filled with hope what the new season will bring. Tonights game against the dreaded fakers opens our 2006-2007 campaign.  One bonus this year is that the increase in season ticket sales, combined with an increase in overall attendance, should make for fewer Fakers fans in attendance at 'the Oracle.'

2001-2002   L    Warriors 87 - Jailblazers 92

Portland dishses out 10 more assists than the W's. Portland goes on to finish the season with a 49-33 record.          Warriors finish the season 21-61.

2002-2003   W    Warriors 106 - Spurs 98

Jamison and Richardson combine for 58, Murphy grabs 10 boards. Adonal Foyle goes for 14 and 7. Spurs go on to a 60-22 record, warriors finish with a respectable 38-44, but miss the playoffs again.

2003-2004   L   Warriors 87 - Mavs 95

Uncle Cliffy goes for 18, 12 and 3 assists to lead the W's, Dampier goes for 14 and 17 rebounds. 3 W's on the injured list due to knee injuries and Richardson was suspended by the league, I think for that incident with an ex girlfriend and a wall.  Mavs go on to end the season with a 52-30 record and the Warriors finish 37-45 unable to improve on their record.

2004-2005   L   Warriors 75 - Jailblazers 78

Who said scoring was down in the league? Jason Richardson has a poor shooting night, 4-17, Dunleavy is the W's leading scorer with 17 on 8-15 shooting. W's go with a 10 man rotation with most of the bench players, Dale Davis, Derek Fisher, Uncle Cliffy, Calbery, Najera getting almost 20 minutes each, versus a Portland squad that went an 8 man rotation with their starters getting heavy minutes.  Portland finishes the season 27-55 and the W's finish 34-48 in a race to the bottom.

2005-2006   W    Warriors 122 - Atlanta 97

Warriors deliver an epic beat down on a bad Atlanta team.  Extended garbage time in the 4th after the Warriors come back from 10 down in a 39-16 3rd quarter, sees everyone on both teams getting some minutes. JRich goes for 28, Troy goes for 19/10, Pietrus goes for 20 in 24 minutes. Atlanta finishes their season at 26-56 and the Warriors finish 34-48 with a far more talented team than they had in the 2002-2004 seasons.
