Jason Richardson led the way with 25 points, topping four players in double figures as, helped by two big 3-pointers by Troy Murphy and Derek Fisher as time wound down in the third, the Golden State Warriors held off the New Jersey Nets by a score of 100-97.

Murphy scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Fisher chipped in with 22, and Baron Davis had 17 to go along with 8 assists on a night that was dampened by the loss of Mickael Pietrus to a sprained knee.

It was a good game, though any time the Warriors win is fine with me. That puts them at 7-5 so far with just five games left in the month of November. 17 games in a month is a lot no matter what time of year it is, and the Warriors won't have had more than one day off at a time all month long. That's going to take a toll early in the season.

This one was mostly close throughout, but a big sequence at the end of the third quarter gave the Warriors a much needed cushion. Only up 76-71, the shot clock was winding down when Murphy grabbed a loose ball behind the 3-point line. After a moment's hesitation he realized the shot clock was about to expire and was open enough to get a quick shot off. Buried it. 79-71.

Jason Kidd came right back with a 3-pointer of his own to bring the Nets back to 79-74, but Fisher somehow got off a 3-pointer with Scott Padgett in his face, nailing it with a second remaining in the quarter. That gave the Warriors an 82-74 lead entering the fourth, and they held on for a 100-97 win, finished off by two Richardson free throws with 8.3 seconds remaining, then a big defensive stop at the end in which the Nets couldn't even get a shot off before the buzzer sounded.
